The Great Soil Spill
Last Tuesday, little Maya was helping me fill the planting pots with soil. She was so excited, so eager to help. But when she lifted the big bag, her hands slipped.
*WHOOSH!* Soil everywhere! On the floor, on her apron, even a little on my shoes. For a second, we just stood there, looking at the mess.
We turned that spill into a lesson about erosion, about how soil moves and changes. We planted seeds right there in the spilled soil, and now we have a "floor garden" that the kids love to visit.
The Wobbly Solar Oven
We were building solar ovens out of pizza boxes. The idea was to use the sun's energy to melt chocolate and make s'mores. But Leo's oven? It was wobbly. The foil kept falling off, the box kept tipping.
Instead of giving up, Leo started experimenting. He added more tape. He tried different angles. He even added a little weight to keep it steady.
By the end of the week, Leo's wobbly oven was the most successful one in class. His s'mores were the best, and he learned that sometimes the "wrong" way leads to the best discovery.
The Paint That Didn't Dry
We were painting with watercolors, and one day, the humidity was so high that the paint wouldn't dry. It kept running, blending colors in ways we never planned.
Instead of throwing the paintings away, we embraced the mess. We turned it into a lesson about how water moves, how colors mix, and how sometimes the best art comes from letting go of control.
